Film Critic

        The Blindside is a movie which tackles about the essence of a family and the virtue of charity. The main character of the movie is a Black-American teenager, with an awfully low intellectual quotient yet having a very high protective instinct, named Michael Oher. This quality of his became his tool in becoming an excellent lineman in football.

          Another important character in the story is Leigh Anne Touhy, a well-off woman with a businessman husband and two kids. She displays the value of kindness by lending Michael a tremendous amount of help. She let Michael stay in their home, gave him clothes and, most importantly, treated him like her own child. Michael also became close with Leigh Anne's son, Sean, who influenced his interest in football and later on taught him the basics and other techniques in playing good football. Although at first Michael felt like an outsider in the family because they felt it was kind of awkward having someone, whom they are not related with, stay in their house, he eventually felt welcome when they started to warm-up on him and learned to love him.   This shows us that people can treat a total stranger like he is a part of the family. Regardless of obvious differences, they loved him and supported him all the way through. This is real charity! Sharing, loving, helping and being happy for someone not part of your family without expecting to be reciprocated.

          The story also shows the parallelism of family and football. Each player in the field is like a member of the family having different roles and tasks. In the case of Michael, his role is to protect the running back. In order for him to be very effective, he has to think that the whole football team is his family and he has to protect them especially the running back. Since Michael has a very high protective instinct. 

            My favorite scene was when the family were about to eat dinner, they have their own different place in the house to take their meal some were in front of the television while others were in the living room. Then Michael was left at the dining table, when  Leigh Anne saw him she called the others to have the meal at the dining table, and they prayed for the first time. That was a proof that he too have taught them a lesson, they provided him things and he provided values though he was not aware of it. The movie is so fantastic that anyone can relate and feel connected to the characters. It is a very enjoyable film.   

Character Sketch

                 Crizzelda was born on the year of our Lord nineteenth hundred and eighty nine on the eighteenth day of the month of September the second child of her parents. She is often called as Gigi by her families and friends. She is 5’4 in height, fair in complexion, sexy and she has a silky straight black hair. She is very cheerful and lovely. She has a lot of friends for she’s really a bubbly. She loves to dress up, but at home she prefers big t-shirts and short shorts and comfortable ones. She is an outgoing person but driven and full of dreams.

My friend Gigi is the most amazing friend anybody could ask for.  We’ve been friends for 5 years, through so much together, we’re basically like sisters.  We met at a store while I was buying for a pocketbook so does she. We clicked that moment, and we became the best of friends, like me, she haven’t seen her father yet, she has stepfather as well and kid siblings, we live in the same subdivision and she just a block away from us, we attended the same school in high school although she was ahead of me.  We do same things we love to read books, watch tv we and even have the same taste for girly things. We understand each other by just a look in an eye. I became a part of her family, as well as she is loved by mine.

Gigi is the most lively, animated character I’ve ever known. She never says anything mean about people, she always a soft spoken person. She sometimes a childish and I often becomes the big sister between us. She seeks my opinion about what she does and always asking for my advices. She trusts me to give her my honest opinion and to say what I feel.  In return, Gigi is a wonderful listener.  She lets me tell her all my problems and she never diminishes the importance of my worries.  I can tell she’s really listening, too, because she looks directly in my eyes the whole time, like she’s trying to see inside my head and figure me out. We don’t always agree on everything, and sometimes we even fight like sisters.  But, in the end, we always stick together.

how to make a pillow scap

            We can encounter plastics every where, such as junk foods and candy wrappers, tetra packs, plastic containers and many other trash that are non biodegradable. There are lots of new products that can be created from this garbage to minimize waste. We can make products that are eco- friendly and environmental responsible.  This product that I am going to present to you is very easy and enjoyable to do. This is called a pillow scrap.

            These are the step on how to make it:

• First you have to pick-up and collect tetra packs from your yards.
• Second, wash and dry it.
• Third, cut it into small pieces or shred it.
• Next, gather cut pieces into a plastic.
• Then sew a pillowcase, designed and shaped.
• Placed the cut pieces in that pillowcase. It is done, you can enjoy using it.

       This is not a time consuming activity, you can do this anywhere as long as you not littering and scattering your materials. It is very light labor. You can have this as a hobby, and the finished product is very useful.

LOVE LETTER to grandma

Dear Mang,

I know that you are not here and that you have gone home to be with the Lord, but I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for everything that you have done for the whole family, especially for me. Thank you so much for loving me unconditionally, for always being there when I needed you so, and for supporting me all the time. Thank you for the undying patience for all my stubbornness and childishness. Thank you for those years that you accepted the responsibility of taking care of me and treated me as a princess of your own.

 For me you are the greatest grandma, you were a deep loving wife, a caring and patient mother of 3, and a gracious grandmother of 8, a wonderful aunt, a kind sister-in-law, a beautiful niece, an embracing mother-in-law, a committed friend, a faithful and honorable woman of God. You spoke words of life, kind, uplifting and encouraging.

You always saw the best in me and I thank you. When I made a mistake, you corrected me in love. Your wisdom and patience helped me to make sense of this thing we walk through called life.

 I love you, I always do. I regretted that I didn’t take advantage of telling you how much I love you when you were still alive. But I know I still have the chance to prove how grateful I am for all the things that you have given and taught me, and I value all those things so much. Your memories will be for ever cherished and remembered. I will always treasure the moments and times that you’ve shared. Mang you will remain forever in our hearts. Your hardship and sacrifices for me will always be my inspiration and motivation as I travel this journey that started with your words, for you always were my believer and an up lifter. I know you’re still here watching and guiding me as I reach my goals.

           I'm going to miss you more than words can ever express, but I know that I will see you soon.   I find you often in my dreams and long for a moment in eternity to be caught up in your hug again. I miss you and I love you Mang.

PINKFLOYD'S ADVENTURE W/ HANSHERINA

           First day of September, a date that I will always look forward to remember, a day with trill and excitement, for that day Hansherina was assign to took care of me and create memories and adventure if ever there would be with her. 

           As we were heading our way to Hansherina's home, there was a brown out and I was so afraid to take a walk for it was very dark. They lived at Brgy Sto. Nino, just across Cainta Catholic College.That moment was an adventure itself. Upon reaching their house, she opened the door and we found out that nobody was home, according to her her parents are still on their work and they will be home at 11:00 midnight her brother was still at his school. She let me in, and asked to sit then she excused for a while to change clothes.She introduce me to her stuff toy friends and took us picture. She also gave me a tour around their house, then she opened the television and cooked for dinner. I can say that she have a talent in cooking, she cooks well. It was nearly midnight when her parents arrived and she introduce me to them. I spent my first night with her in her room.

             It was already 8:00 when I woke up the next morning and she was still deep in her asleep. She woke up at around 9:30 she said that was her wake up hour. We had our breakfast her parents were already out for work and her brother was still sleeping. After taking the breakfast meal she did the laundry while cleaning the house. She finally finished the household chores at 3:00 in  the afternoon. We went outside to buy for a snack and returned to eat. We went to her aunts house and had a movie marathon with her cousins, they obviously close, they throw jokes with each other. It was a tiring day indeed, I slept with Hansherina's stuff-toys on that night.
             The next day September 3 hanshe woke up early. She was preparing because she was going to watch a theater act entitled "Ang Guro The Musicale"  She told me to come with her. At 11 we went to her school to meet her classmates who will be watching as well. When we reached the placed it was like I was reunited with the whole class, the venue was the Ynares Center, there were lot of children who also watched. The show was very funny, but it does also have touchy scenes, I saw the viewers cried for those touchy scenes, including Hansherina. I saw some local artist like, Pinky Marquez, her daughter Karel, sexbomb dancer Izzy and others. After the show, together with the BEED we dropped by at Antipolo Church, we just walked to get there. We went home with smiles on our faces.
                The next day, as many families do, they attended a mass at Cainta church. At 3:00 pm they went at the mall to unwind and of course they brought me with them as usual. I can say that her mother was very fond at me, she loves to touch me for I she said I have a tender skin.

                I enjoyed staying with Hansherina very much. I cant wait to upload my pictures with them unfortunately,, the rest was erased unintentionally.
